I'm planning on painting my entire downstairs (kitchen, living, dining, family room) which has an open floor plan.
What is your FAVORITE WHITE PAINT for walls, trim and doors?
From some of the blogs I follow (Dreamy Whites, Cozy Cottage Cute, Air Kiss, Sissie's Shabby Cottage, Centsational Girl) I've noted the following but not sure if they're primarily for small painting projects.
Simply White / Benjamin Moore
Chantilly Lace / Benjamin Moore
Decorator's White / Benjamin Moore
Cotton Balls / Benjamin Moore
Cream Delight / Valspar
And while we're at it....eggshell for walls and semigloss for trim and doors - is that the rule of thumb?
I have such confidence in my blogger friends - I look forward to your ideas and recommendations!!

OK, this I am doing now. my living room is sage green and has been for ten years... I am painting everything white, I chose Marcarpone it's a PB color, But took it to Lowes and had them do the paint(cheaper) and for the trim I'm doing Sparkling white, I went with soft gloss because of the fact that I too have an open floor plant and I need to wash walls I am so happy with it so far someday you will get to see the finished rooms...OH and the trim I went with high gloss.

Cottonballs sounds lovely! I follow Sissie's blog and everything she does is phenomenal so if I was painting I'd do whatever she does:)
ReplyDeleteHi Diane!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet mention, you are too kind and so is Victoria!
I love the Chantilly Lace. It does have a touch of gray to it which keeps it from being too white. I think that it would be great for the trim and maybe a another white shade for the walls. You are going to have to experiment. Even soft grays are beautiful with white.
I know you'll make the right choice.
hugs
Sissie
I use satin on the walls/semi gloss on the trim.....I wish I could suggest a paint color but I'm a color girl. I do however use swiss coffee on all my trim :) I can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be gorgeous!
XOXO
Kristin
I'm not sure about the colors, but I do always use an eggshell or satin on the walls and semigloss on the trim...what a job you are undertaking! It will be GORGEOUS!!

Hi Diane! Sounds like a fun project! My living room and den are both in Swiss Coffee but I forget the trim color!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what color is best! I use flat paint on my walls, and semigloss on the trim. There are so many pretty whites it's hard to choose.

Hello Diane,
ReplyDeleteThe February/March issue of Cottages & Bungalows has a good showing of whites on page 20, 21. I like the suggestion of using three to four shades "for a layered feel".
I may try the layering using my new passion . . . Teal. Is it green? blue? Caribbean or Mediterranean?
I'm looking for texture and gloss. No matte.
Have fun . . . .Susan
Thats a promising house project. Well not so sure either but I would recommend semigloss on the trims. I prefer brighter and bolder hues on my decors and what compliments it all is a nice simply white.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane! I am painting my family room white next and after paint sample after paint sample of whites, my walls are spotted now, I am going with Simply White from BM. I like how it looks throughout the day, not too bright and not too creamy. Although I did not try any of the others above. I use satin on my walls and semi on the trims. I have also used flat which wasn't too bad either on the walls. Have fun!!
