He said YES!

"He" being my husband.... and "YES" to painting our oak cabinets white!

I had already taken down the curtains and a few decorative items before I remembered to take the before photos....but yes, sad to say, it really is that ugly


So anyway, I'm thinking that once the cabinets are painted we're going to need new counter tops

And new counter stools for sure!

I like the retro look of my existing hardware so those may be a keeper

Though I'm definitely thinking stainless steel appliances...

It's a ton of work but I'm on a mission!

  1. it's going to look just gorgeous! I painted my oak cabinets a creamy white several years ago and have NEVER regretted it. it just transformed the kitchen instantly! So glad Mr. Passionate said "yes." can't wait to see the finished look. now get painting!:)

  2. We will be doing the same thing this year. We bought our home new 4 yrs. ago with the plan to paint the oak cabinets white. We are going to paint them not only in our kitchen but entire house...bath, laundry, hallway! Lots of work. I will look forward to seeing what you do and how they turn out!

  7. yay! My husband finally agreed to let me do the same and he ended up LOVING the result! You will be amazed at how quickly it will change the entire look of your kitchen! I love mine and will be posting after photos soon!!

  27. I can relate! We also have oak kitchen cabinets, so you won't see any pics of my kitchen on my blog. We have the stainless appliances, but I don't think I want to tackle the big changeover to white. Can't wait to see your redo! It will look great.
