Look familiar?

From a prior post you may recall this old mirror frame and sconce - two of a few items I came home with after a lucrative day of shopping.

All I did was add the lamp shades - which I recalled I had stashed away somewhere. Took me a while to find them but the point is...I found them!! Hammered in a couple of nails and I was good to go. Yessss...I would have been happier if my husband hard-wired the sconce but truth be told...I didn't even ask....at least not yet anyway! :)

Cheryl.... if the cherub candelabra looks familiar as well....it should...I bought it from your Whimsical Victorian Cottage Chic shop at House at 755 about a month ago.

For my friend Gayle's bridal shower....

I offered to make the favors. "Cool" my husband said... "something to keep your mind occupied and away from contemplating another redecorate!" Which translates to... Whew... I don't have to help! :)

So off to JoAnn Fabrics for supplies: rubber stamp, ink, faux rose petals, paint, heart charms, swarovski craft crystals, wired ribbon, glitter! The glassine bags I bought on-line as I couldn't find them anywhere (if anyone knows a retailer, please let me know).


I first tried stamping the bags with ink but the ink bled a bit and and didn't stay wet enough for the glitter to adhere so I moved on to stamping with craft paint and bingo...glitter galore! I then glued three swarovski crystals to the bodice for extra bling.


I punched two holes into the front of the bag, threaded the pink wire ribbon through and tied it in a not. Next (after clipping off the jump rings) I glued on the double heart charms.


I stamped and glitter the faux rose petals - most with "Merci" and some with a crown.


I scalloped the edges of wedding tissue paper and then tucked in a 10" round of pink tulle along with a Merci stamped petal.


For a sweet treat, I dropped in a hand full of hershey kisses.


Seeing as though it's her favorite color....Gayle, I'm sure, will be "tickled pink"!

Sunday find...

I reached for this book the moment I stepped into the booth space of A Cottage Muse at the Wrentham Country Store. I was surprised to find that it was actually a faux book (made of wood and painted white). Nonetheless, I scooped it up, continued my browsing....but not really paying much attention as all the while I was mentally taking inventory of my craft supplies and what I might have to add to the charm of this darling book.


And this is what I came up with....


A bow made from a bit of scrunched and tea stained seam binding.

A few faux crystals in various sizes...

And some tissue paper cut and glued to fit the edges.

I had forgotten that I "won" this eBay item....

Until I opened my mailbox and there it was.... the butler tray that I simply had to have an yet had simply no idea why exactly I had to have it (typical of me and my buying habits)!


It's painted a crisp cottage white and distressed for that vintage time worn charm - the look is completed with stamped Paris Chic details. I still haven't quite decided where to put it. The functionality of the crumb tray dictates that it should reside in the dining room but the pink ribbon on the vintage inspired hang tag tells me it would be best served in my master bedroom to hold rings and things or perhaps in my master bath as a soap dish. Hmmm...... maybe I should see if the seller has more!!

A weekend of shopping...

left me with an armful of goodies from some of my favorite stomping grounds. An old mirror-less frame from a dresser, a two light wall sconce that I'm pretty sure is from Maura Daniels, a lovely ceramic religious plate, a yard or so of vintage trim, a sweet angel statue and an old piano song book.

The trim has detail such as I've never seen before. I have a dining room lamp whose shade would speak volumes embellished with this beautiful trim. It's a small lamp so I'll have plenty left over to decorate some old bottles and various sundries.

I so much loved the way the picture came out of this little cutie that I decided to use it as my blog header.




The song book will be taken apart and used to craft with. I'll certainly get my monies worth out of the 50 cents I paid for it.

The original tag on the sconce was $225 but I managed to get it for $30 because one of the crystals has a chunk taken out of it. No worries, I just loosened a screw, turned the crystal around, tightened it back up and voila no one will be the wiser!

It appears I'm ready for dinner guests....

when in actuality I was simply entertaining myself by playing around with my dining room decor and table settings. The chandelier lunch plates were a clearance section find at Home Goods (aka my home away from home) that most certainly were meant for me because there were six... EXACTLY the amount I needed! So yes, that's all it takes to amuse myself for an hour or so and to curb my decorating sweet tooth!

Admittedly, I haven't got much in the way of Easter decorations but I managed to pull together a couple of sweet vignettes out of the cuties that I do have....

I think that once Easter is over my mission is to hit the clearance racks to build up a collection for next year.
