I had been wanting a dress form for quite some time and frankly didn't expect to buy one so new but the minute I spied this one at the Wrentham Country Store I knew she was going home with me.
The night dress she's wearing was given to me by my husband many years ago. It's a size small so needless to say.....I've never worn it! :)
LOVE that I now have a place to hang some of my long necklaces and in a place that I can openly admire them.
After hearing so much about this shop from so many people, including fellow bloggers, we decided this morning to take a ride to Wilton, New Hampshire to visit White Home Collections. Let me tell you....we were NOT disappointed.
Room after room was filled to the brim with so many goodies....
I bought this cute little pail because of the design on the front. I think it needs something stenciled in the middle of it....
Oh boy... this is an over-sized (nearly 2 1/2 feet tall) vintage flour sifter from a Hoosier that they turned upside down atop an electric candle - look at how awesome it is. I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure where I had room for it and then (and of course) half way home I thought how good it would look on my front stoop at Christmas time. I can see it now.... sitting on top of an old stool or chair, surrounded by winter greens and berries....sigh....
The putty color of this stool with it's canvas top caught my eye immediately. It looks so good against the white painted floor. I didn't buy it but sure did admire it for quite some time.
My husband picked up this old license plate for himself. He was born in 1963 so naturally.....
I bought these two lampshades and they're already out in my potting shed - one on a lamp and the other is adorning the top of an old bird cage. The cement bee skep didn't make the cut despite the fact that I went back to it again and again.
If this were a full size chair (it's child-size) I would have snatched it up for sure. Love, love, love the cushion!
This is just a sampling of their outdoor goodies - I was in such a rush to get inside that I only snapped one pic before racing to the door. I bought a number of other items that I didn't take pictures of at the shop - I'll save them for a later post.
I took a few early morning moments (when the sunlight is best for capturing pictures) to take a few snap shots of some of my favorite "beach" items and vignettes throughout our home. The shutter in the above photo (which I fell in love with because of its color) has since been moved to my living room - why oh why didn't I buy them both when I had the chance?
I bought this adorable table at a charming little shop called Counting Sheep while we were out one day for a Sunday afternoon drive. See what I mean about the shutter.... looks great here as well.....if only I had its twin...
I know.... the white board needs something written on it - but.... I misplaced the dry marker and I refuse to write on it with anything permanent.
I bought the "Beach House" sign a while back from Cheryl's shop. Take the time to check out her blog (My Whimsical Victorian Chic Cottage ) .... you'll be glad you did!
This was once a simple straw wreath that I transformed by wrapping it in lace and gluing on buttons and sea shells.
This sailboat print is a new addition - it was the bead board background look that sold me.
This is one of my favorite candles, and again....when will I ever learn to buy more than one of something I love!?!?
Because we went on the last day of the show, we didn't come home with much - most of the items I wanted had the dreaded red sold tag taunting me in the face!! :)
We did of course, have a great time browsing and snapping pictures....
This potting bench was made by the same gentleman that made the bench I bought at Brimfield's May show (see my post of May 15 )
Love, love, love this seat that actually folds down when not in use. I'm on a quest to find one for my bench. Any leads would be SO appreciated!!
I was vacationing on Cape Cod this weekend and on Sunday morning took a drive to a local gift shop only to find they didn't open for another two hours!! Full of disappointment, I put on my pouty face and headed back to my car.....
It was then I realized I had my camera with me so I took the opportunity to meander around the front porch of The Potted Geranium- snapping pictures and reclaiming my smile! :)
Hi, my name is Diane and I'm a lover of decorating with a penchant for anything white and worn. It's rare for me to drive past a yard sale or flea market and I'm not above going through others trash. Some of my best finds have been picked up on the side of the road..... a pair of beveled glass french doors, a white iron settee, window shutters, white picket fencing...to name but a few. I'm lucky enough to live within an hours driving time to the Brimfield Antiques Fair which, to my delight, is held three times a year.
